Across all of our projects, we are interpreting the story of the Trent Valley and presenting this through both physical installations and modern technology.
Information boards and artwork enable us to tell the story of key sites across the landscape and help to improve visitor experience. Utilising modern technology, we are providing information, videos and images virtually, and are creating an augmented reality experience with a touring mobile display.
The display materials will be made available to local museums beyond the end of the project. The newly-formed volunteer groups will continue to meet and care for the area beyond the end of this project.
The Augmented Reality deliverable will be maintained as part of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust’s 25-year vision for the Transforming the Trent Valley wetlands area.
Physical infrastructure will be maintained by the landowners into the future.

Marston-on-Dove Circular Walk
Willington Circular Walk
Working with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Canal and River Trust, Willington Parish Council, and others to create a new circular walk. This includes funding from Transforming the Trent Valley towards the creation of 250m of new all access track, improvements to 550m of existing footpaths to accessble standard and for the design and installation of two interpretation boards at Willington Nature Reserve to compliment the circular walk. Further footpath waymarking and interpretation will follow linking the canal network to Willington Nature Reserve.
Travelling Exhibition
Our travelling exhibition will tour the Transforming the Trent Valley Scheme area visiting museums, libraries, and other public spaces.
Virtual Walks
Working with a team of photography volunteers, we have started to create a series of virtual walks at key locations across the Transforming the Trent Valley scheme area. We are now about to start work on our third virtual walk between Uttoxeter and Doveridge.
Burton-upon-Trent History Tour
We have recently completed the filming of Lawrence Oates from Burton Conservation Volunteers as he takes us on a History Tour of Burton. The video footage will soon be edited and the final film made available on our webiste in due course.

Supporting our Stop! The Military Heritage of the Trent Valley project, we have been working with the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas to design and install a new interpretation board to be located next to an original Second World War Type 24 Pillbox located on the banks of the River Tame. The new interpretation board is expected to be installed in September 2021. For more information, visit our Type 24 Pillbox page.
