Scheme Partners

The Transforming the Trent Valley Partnership comprises 18 organisations and is led by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Transforming the Trent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme

Transforming the Trent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme which launched in April 2019 received £2.7 million funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund over five years, which will enable a £4.7 million scheme to be delivered. Some of this cost will be funded by partners, through cash contributions and in-kind support. The remaining funding will be secured by Transforming the Trent Valley over the life of the scheme. The scheme will cover a 200km² (19,995ha) area of the Trent Valley from Rugeley, through Alrewas to Derby, the tame valley from just north of Tamworth to its confluence with the Trent at Croxall, and the Dove River Valley between Derby and Uttoxeter.

Central Rivers Initiative

The Central Rivers Initiative was established as a partnership in November 1997. The project aims to secure a multifunctional end use for sand and gravel extraction sites in the sub region, and to integrate the sites into landscape scale management of the river valleys.

In November 2016, the Central Rivers Initiative partnership successfully secured a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Lottery Fund to develop an ambitious scheme focussing on the River Trent and its tributaries the Tame and the Dove.

The final application was given the green light in December 2018, bringing the total grant to just under £3m. The total value of the Transforming the Trent Valley scheme is £4.7m.
